Journey into Earth Orbit with the celestial soundspaces of Australian award-winning ambient music producer Japetus compiled from his Visionary Journeys catalogue. This compilation of space music was inspired by Elon Musk’s speech at the SpaceX September 2017 Event. Earth Orbit has a collection of 8 cosmic tracks that provide an ideal soundtrack for space travel – personally selected by Japetus from his Visionary Journeys new age soundspace catalogue.

This album is ideal background music for space journeys – into orbit and beyond – and is conceived to be used in all aspects of off-world adventures - capturing the ‘atmosphere and feelings’ of: space travel, spaceports, space flights, space stations - and it serves as a great memento of the journey – that can be given out to every passenger to play at home and relive their experience!

Brian Eno did Music For Airports...
this is Music For Spaceports!

The process on the first track here 'Morning Lift-off' was about sitting in meditation and very gradually raising your awareness up through various parts of the body - energy centres - until awareness is focused in the head - before very gradually leaving the lower realms and exiting the body into the higher imagination and out through into the more subtle inner world of consciousness.

However, that process is almost identical to escaping Earth’s gravity and going weightless in orbit and that music sequence makes an excellent first track to lay over a countdown lift-off sequence with the voice of Mission Control.

All the tracks on Earth Orbit have been specially processed for this collection so as to create an even greater sense of spaciousness and weightlessness – capturing the awe of the infinite starscape contrasted with the overwhelming beauty of seeing the Earth as a whole being.

‘Morning Lift-off’ did not have the countdown in it originally - I left the SpaceX countdown and added some bits from a NASA Shuttle launch. But most of the rest is pretty much what was released in 1983. All the other compiled tracks are the best spacey bits collected from across my whole Visionary Journeys catalogue and then arranged to give the feeling of a journey out amongst the stars before coming home.

Or are the stars our home?
